I believe the "way it has always been" is to hand things over to companies such as Parker Development, and the change is to not do that any more. In other words, preserve our open space, the exact opposite of what you are claiming.
Perhaps if defense contractors didn't have so much power with both parties by virtue of having "constitutional rights" and "free speech" (ie unlimited ability to corrupt elections with money), we wouldn't be at the brink of WWIII.
The number of justices changed 6 times before 1869. It's been 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, and the last actual change was made by a Republican. Yes, Democrats have proposed changes that never went anywhere. So awful. I don't hear anyone condemning president Grant or anyone else behind changing it. …
