Going to the dentist can be a stressful experience and can take a real bite out of your day, but nervousness is nothing to chew on at Dr. Jeff Little’s office.
Migrating from the Bay Area to Placerville 20 years ago, Little started working at other clinics before opening his own practice in 2004.
“Most of our people seem to come from word-of-mouth; that’s what keeps me busy,” Little said.
He has an easy-going staff, a trait in Little’s office clients can appreciate if their teeth start to chatter.
“Everyone is nice and calm, which can help make it more inviting for people coming in because nobody likes going to the dentist,” Little admitted.
He has a menu of services, including but not limited to cleaning, implants, dentures and root canals.
The office provides a few complimentary comforts that clients can enjoy while awaiting their appointment, such as movies, massage chairs and paraffin hand-dip to comfort the guests. Little can also administer laughing gas, if needed.
“We’re always trying to figure out ‘OK, how can we make them more comfortable and not so stressed’ because that is the toughest thing with dentistry,” Little said. “Luckily, I have a great staff … with personality so they get along with people really well.”
Dr. Little said he hasn’t had any problems with clients since he moved to Placerville.
“Most patients we can work on and get them relaxed. Occasionally, we get the ones that are really stressed so we send them to specialists for that kind of stuff,” Little said.
Little’s office also is good at keeping up with the latest technology.
“We have the X-ray machine that rotates around your head so we don’t necessarily have to put X-rays inside your mouth anymore,” he explained. “We always get the newest gizmos and toys to work with.”
Little said he has enjoyed working in dentistry with the people in Placerville.
“It’s nice working on the people here because they are more friendly than going down to the Bay Area. We get to know the patients well up here,” he added. “They like to chit-chat and talk here so that makes it a lot of fun.”
